and people say ghost game is the childish season of digimon

Kranesh • 1 year ago

Nah, so far it's really one of the darkest Digimon shows, probably second after Tamers... the thing about people being pissed about Ghost Game is that we need an actual plot and objective instead of... you know, the monster of the week.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

Ghost Game's problems is that it is soooo slow in terms of storytelling
to the point you could easily believe they gave them free amount of episodes to go as far as they can

but then again, what was ghost game's plot besides hiro's dad's dissapperance and why he is in the digital world? so i get why they are fully into the slice of life aspect mixed with horror

Kranesh • 1 year ago

I'm really pissed at Hiro's dad plot, there's so much potential there but it's being wasted completely, like Hiro got a letter from his dad and we were all expecting a twist... but nope, just a "LMAO I'M FINE"... like wtf dude, the monster of the week thingy is really getting old now.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

i don't mind themonster of the week formula.....
but kinda wish at least it was a plot point of humans starting to coexist with digimon
like, at least the ones who are aware of them and hiro and co helping them

ghost gamer : Darker

Tamers : Better plot

I hope ghost gamers are going to come with some cool plot or something because i like it a lot

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

I'd say Tamers would be second to this since this actually kills off human victims.

Kranesh • 1 year ago

Yeah... no... sure humans are killed in Ghost Game, but you know what Tamers had? An actual deep plot and serious character development, something this show is lacking and why Tamers is still the darkest Digimon show.

Now if Ghost Game gets an actual plot instead of your average monster of the week... then yeah, we can revisit this comment in the future.

kyle cyrus • 1 year ago

Not even close. Killing someone isn't the measuring stick for making a show dark. In terms of tone and dark emotional resonance, I'd put Savers and Frontier ahead of ghost game, much less tamers. Those series had a continuous and looming narrative dread that ghost games episodic format is simply hard-pressed to match.

hazerddex • 1 year ago

Tamer's was a monster of a week show as well not sure why people forget that up until they reached the d reaper part they fought one deva almost every week.

Kranesh • 1 year ago

Yeah but at least Tamers at least had an actual plot that slowly developed across episodes, but right now Ghost Game has been nothing but Monster of the Week galore.

Neil Dunsmore • 1 year ago

I don't really see people calling it childish. If anything, Universe is the one most people call childish. This one is mostly seen as aimless.

Meroko Yui • 1 year ago

All Digimon shows had some dark plots in them. This shows more about urban legends but the cause is digimon. Though the other shows have a more in depth plot that spans more then 1 episode. This covers every digimon it features in 1 episode. Myotismon was an example where it didn't have enough time really with the plot that it ended up poorly. However it was litterally like the first real villain in the original Digimon anime that was much more in depth and enjoyable

This cartoons like Digimon meets Archie's weird mysteries. Jk.

Lmao been saying this since the beginning

kyle cyrus • 1 year ago

It kind of is. Sure, there's a lot of dark aspects to it, and it definitely has the highest human body count out of any digimon series, but the way it tells the story makes it feel like it's childish. There's so many asspulls and leaps in logic that make it feel like the creators didn't think the people watching would be very old, and that gives it this feeling of being childish.

Fayt Leingod • 1 year ago

final destination digimon edition wow thats quite out of theme for digimon series

ryuuri • 1 year ago

I kind of pity the writers who narratively can write a great plot but have to cut the episode short. It's like it was going somewhere yet can only express their ideas briefly. Had the story and show go on longer it would be much more fluid and the plot didn't need to be explained at the end, like each episode is like.

Vincent • 1 year ago

Kiyo pls, you've been having Digimon experiences for like 32 episodes and you think you hearing voices is brain problem and requires MRI?

Anyway, never expected Sepikmon having childlike voice. I expected it to have old man/woman's voice, typical to old shamans.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

A lot of them are really skeptic
you would think that since episode 10 they would assume all paranormal events they see are just digimon
it took hiro at least for episode 25 to think "maybe it is a digimon?"

Shadow Moon • 1 year ago

i mean, his first reaction to jellymon when he couldn't see her was to pull out the talismans. he's the perfect example of how a genius can be a complete idiot.

as for sepikmon's voice... well, sepikmon is pretty much just a weaker and less civilized makuramon so the voice works for it. even more so when you take into account that makura was running around in the guise of a kid in tamers.

Digimon Ghost Game Episode 33: Mummymon's MDMA monopoly.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

Mummymon is the one who knocks! D:<

FunnehRabbitMan • 1 year ago

Man, that was super dark.

For those not familiar, the river is Sanzu no Kawa; crossing it leads one into Jigoku, which is pretty much Hell, so "Styx" isn't an entirely inaccurate localization. When a child dies before their parents, they're said to spend eternity on the banks of Sanzu no Kawa stacking stones, which is what those are from.

This episode also seems to imply multiple universes, like Digimon Adventure, Tamers, Xros Wars, or Re:Digitize/Cyber Sleuth.

Kranesh • 1 year ago

I liked the fact that someone from the main cast was on the verge of actually dying, a good reminder that Ghost Game doesn't pull its punches if we talk about harming/killing humans, and seems that we're gonna get more of that next week with Salamandramon as the bad guy.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

probably the scary thing is piximon coming whenever they feel like it because they are a time traveller

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

People get turned into lizards basically and a salamander is involved.

Ashley Light • 1 year ago

ngl this episode straight up made me jump at some moment, I know it wasn't intended in his original design but a unchanging masked face chasing after you while sounding like a playful little kid is unnerving as fuck

mimejr555 • 1 year ago

Next is Salamandamon?

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

so now we have lizard people replacing others like betsumon?
or something like zombie infection with salamandamon turning others into the same species as them?

Petar Dimić • 1 year ago

It looks like that digimon.

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

They nearly killed Kiyoshiro twice and the first one was a bomb accident from Picklemon. The second time was a good thing Kiyoshiro has good reflexes or else he really would have been dead by that van or at least he would still survive but will be on a wheelchair for a bit. I think what I find kind of depressing is that in this universe Sepikmon can only commune and make friends with the dead. At least now he is at a place where the departed wander. I don't know the name of that place but I have heard about it before from Love is War. Some sort of mountain where the dead gather.

Aside from that, there was quite a few digimon that returned for this episode, Picklemon being one and then there was Betsumon from last week disguising as a nurse for Mummymon under Clockmon's orders.

Slippery when wet!

Every time when I think that the episodes can't be more disturbing and creepier,
then the next ep shows up like this goddamm

this was really fuuukt up and sad for hiagshi,
seeing a stupid ass monkey Digimon trying to iskeaki/kill him

nice way of giving him trauma for the rest of his life lol,

a dog with future sight is about to appear

Harry Underwood • 1 year ago

The moment when Kiyoshiro calls them from (basically) digital limbo reminds me of the scene from Denno Coil when Kyoko calls Yasako by phone while having an OBE. I don't know if there's a TvTropes page for this yet.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

It would have been scarier had Kiyoshiro saw the previous humans we saw die in previous episodes (like the ones who got eaten by cherrymon or arukenimon)

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

A part of me is kinda relieved Clockmon is truy keeping the Betsumon at bay
A part of me was worried they would just overwhelm him and steal his identity and continue their deadly pranks

Agumon-kun • 1 year ago

There is a theory that Taichi and Agumon might appear in Ghost Game... for an episode, a rather important one. Details aren't clear. Probably won't happen though lol.

Annecy Change • 1 year ago

LOL our boys been through it all.

Amano erika. • 1 year ago

Cool. Mummymon is back! He was a really goofy character in 02.

toling54 • 1 year ago

i think this is the digimon with the highest chance to kill a chosen children

Triduo • 1 year ago

They nearly killed one of the protagonists here... The people behind this anime aren't kidding around...

Paradoxe : But then you saw the preview : They're getting a Salamander turn humans into frogs... Or geckos if you prefer.
